Stinson's Gemcutting - What's New

What's New

First, to all of our service men and women, and your families, and for your bravery and personal sacrifices, THANK YOU!!!   I served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and have a very small idea of some of the hardships that most endure in service to our great country. God Bless you for your service.   I have just found a link to search for anyone listed on the Vietnam Memorial Wall.  If you want to look up your loved one, friend or check a name, this is an incredible site and can be searched several ways.  http://virtualwall.org

On to gems...A word to the wise: Watch out for deals on gems while overseas. There are many deals to be sure, but some return with goods that are imitations or have been way overpriced.

We sincerely appreciate your business.  Thank You! This is nothing new, but bears repeating: We offer Free shipping in the USA on orders of $75 or more. We have a Paypal account for customers wishing to use that and Paypal will now take most credit cards. You do NOT have to be a member to use it and there are no gimmicks or fees. For new customers, as always, there is no goofy "log-in" or passwords required on this site. We do not require a minimum purchase, we're glad for all business and we strive to treat you the way we like to be treated. Your satisfaction with our gems and services is of paramount importance to us and your purchase is 100% money back guaranteed. Items must be returned in the same condition as received. Please read our policies. Also we do NOT and will not disclose ANY information on our customers.

A GEM FROM HEAVEN  One of the rarest meteorites is called a pallasite and contains peridot crystals mixed in solid iron.  Scientists tell us that pallasites are approx. FOUR to FIVE BILLION years old; they were formed at the beginning of our solar system! Only a very small handfull of these extraterrestrial peridot gems have ever been cut. They are the rarest of rare gems. Besides the obvious rare source, the extraterrestrial peridot is usually so fractured that it is next to impossible to find a crystal clean and large enough to facet. Now a few Kansas meteorites from one location are yielding heavenly crystals that are big enough. I have been able to remove some cuttable crystals from their solid iron prison and have a few of these gems from heaven now available. These are truly gems from heaven! Each gem will come with my Certificate of authenticity, and a Kansas Meteorite Society Certificate of authenticity.   For those having any doubts about these gems being authentic, or wanting to establish a provenance for an important rarity, I have gems available that have a GIA Lab Report certifying the gem as meteoric in origin. GIA is the world's authority in gem identity and authentication. Please inquire for available stones as inventory sometimes changes quickly. More information is on my meteorite page:

METEORITES

This website is being updated and I appreciate your patience. There are more gems available than the ones listed. If you are interested in anything in the gem world, please inquire. Also we have quartz crystal specimens, red beryl crystals, aquamarine crystals and other mineral specimens available.

I am cutting/stocking faceted red beryl gems. This is the premium "raspberry" or "stoplight red" color and these hydrothermally lab grown crystals match the Violet Claim bixbite color. Give me a call or email for a quote on this beautiful and rare species if you don't see what you are looking for on the red beryl page.
Beware of natural red beryl faceted gems that are being filled and sold without proper disclosure!! The dealer(s) selling these treated stones, are only saying the stone has been "pressure treated". That means some oil, epoxy or resin is forced into the stone's cracks under pressure. This kind of treatment usually improves the clarity of a stone and can cause a substantial price increase. Trouble is, that it is NOT a permanent treatment and is reversable. As long as the buyer is made fully aware of this treatment I have no problem. But unfortunately in the gem business this filled treatment is not often disclosed. Just recently some really big (and U G L Y ) dyed goop showed up from India! Why am I not surprised?

The lab grown gems I sell have not been treated, enhanced, coated, diffused or treated in any way. I have quite a few gems and crystals from the Thomas Range, Utah to list, so please inquire if you're looking for a nice gem or addition to your mineral collection.

Please email us if you have any questions. stinsons@gemservice.com I try to get email answered promptly, but if I'm cutting, sometimes I don't respond as fast as I'd like.
